Job Summary

As a Procurement Manager, you would be responsible for managing the purchasing and sourcing of raw materials, ingredients, and other supplies necessary for the production of pet food products.

Responsibilities:

Developing procurement strategies that are inventive and cost-effective.
Sourcing and engaging reliable suppliers and vendors.
Negotiating with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous terms.
Reviewing existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure ongoing feasibility. Building and maintaining long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers.
Approving purchase orders and organizing and confirming delivery of goods and services.
Performing risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements.
Controlling the procurement budget and promoting a culture of long-term savings on procurement costs.
Overseeing and managing the IT systems that track shipments, inventory, and the supply of goods.
Preparing procurement reports Provide support and lead stakeholders in any Procurement Projects.

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related discipline is often required.
At least 5-7 years of relevant work experience in procurement or supply chain management in a managerial capacity. Familiarity with the pet food industry or food and beverage industry is required.
Strategic sourcing skills develop and implement effective procurement strategies, negotiate contracts, and establish relationships with suppliers to ensure the best terms and pricing.
Demonstrated experience in evaluating and selecting suppliers, managing vendor relationships, and assessing supplier performance is crucial.
Skills in inventory optimization and demand forecasting are valuable to maintain appropriate stock levels and prevent shortages or excess inventory.
Strong analytical skills in handling data to make informed decisions and identify cost-saving opportunities, and evaluate supplier performance and risks.
Effective communication and negotiation skills when dealing with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and other departments within the organization.
Ability to lead and motivate a team of procurement professionals to achieve departmental goals.
Ability to handle unexpected challenges and find creative solutions.
Possesses integrity & ethical conduct to handle sensitive information and make important decisions related to supplier selection.
