Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design the most appropriate agriculture interventions based on the local context and need of the target communities.
  • Working in close collaboration with the EDD, and to attain Climate Resilient Agriculture and Food Security in the community
  • Participate in other organizational works (like proposal development/writing) as required and support EDD team’s activities and events

Planning and Implementation

  • Oversee food security activities/trainings of the Community Development Projects (CDPs) by following-up CDP activities in accordance to their annual plan timeline and budget.
  • Provide technical assistance on food security techniques/ideas/activities to CDPs.
  • Provide technical support on climate resilient agriculture through capacity building of Income Generation staff and communities (through continual coordination, consultation, and communication to the staff) and include climate resilient food security/agriculture activities to CDPs whenever suitable.
  • Conduct research and/or reference and contributes to writing project proposals related to climate agriculture, food security and community resilience of EDD/GNIP.
  • Oversee and provide supervisory/managing functions to EDD special projects in CDP and other communities and ensure efficient project cycle management.

Capacity Building

  • Develop training designs and implement such to the beneficiaries.
  • Organize sharing/learning meetings, seminars, and workshops, whenever necessary.
  • Continuously support in knowledge transfer to and exchange of methods/practices with the CDP’s partners through suggestions, presentations, training materials, and best practices for performance improvement.

Coordination and Representation

  • Coordinate with the National implementing partners, line agencies and NGOs to enhance functional relationships and maintain an optimum level of shared understanding among all stakeholders.
  • Develop and strengthen network with National level stakeholder
  • Work with the partners to develop and maintain a program monitoring and lesson learning framework.

Monitoring and Feedback

  • Implement and improve existing monitoring tools for the community to ensure the appropriateness of the program and measure its impact, including a system of recording and presenting relevant data.
  • Design and implement a scientifically sound M&E Indicators to enable a proper measurement of the project impact by coordinating with the DME Department at GNI Philippines Head Office.
  • Monitor the agricultural activities of the CDPs to encourage the implementation of climate resilient agriculture and to ensure food security among the communities.
  • Gather information, analyze, and prepare reports
  • Provide necessary feedback and comments to the CDP staff and implementing partner organizations on the matters pertaining to the agriculture component.
  • Provide needed updates on work progress to the senior management team and CDPs to take appropriate decisions for smooth implementation of the designed activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree graduate of Agriculture or Agronomy.
  • At least 3-5 years of professional experience in agricultural programs specific to sustainable development and food security.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills.
  • Preferably with experience working for an international non-government organization.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Flexibility to travel to different project area sites
  • Excellent verbal and written English
